Can you attach a basket to any bike?

A bicycle basket and bike compatibility depend on several factors - where you plan to place the basket, the type of bike you have, and the width and style of the handlebars (if you want to attach to the front of the bike). The MIK carrier system is a revolutionary accessory that enables you to click your basket into place. Having a MIK means you can attach all sorts of bikes to all kinds of baskets.

Can you put a basket on a mountain bike?

If you have the MIK system we mentioned above, it should be very straightforward! Why not touch base with our team and give them your bike’s specific details? We can then make some recommendations.

How to secure a dog in a bike basket?

We strongly advise that you opt for a pet-specific carrier like the Basil Buddy. If that’s not an option, then your first priority is to make sure the dog feels comfortable in the basket and is unlikely to jump out. You can attach their collar to the basket to keep them nice a snug. Perhaps even attach it from either side so your pet cannot jump out at any point.

Is it better to have the basket on the front or back of the bike?

It ultimately comes down to personal preference, the type of bike you have and the style of riding you want to do. A front bike basket can handle more weight although it takes a little time to get used to how this affects steering and balance.

Is a bike basket useful?

It’s a bit like having a bike - once you’ve got it, you wonder how on Earth you managed without it! You can ditch the ill-fitting bag slung over your shoulder (or over the handlebars, which is quite dangerous) and carry a lot more. Items can be protected from the elements and more often than not, it just looks so stylish! Certainly, that’s the case when it’s a Basil basket!
